A Tale of Love and Faith

Written By: M.Michelle

Love often tests couples in unexpected ways. For Cara and Jordan, their enduring love story overcame the challenges of a long-distance relationship, bringing them closer together and ultimately leading them to their beautiful wedding day.

Choosing the Perfect Venue

As I approached the edge of the driveway at Highgrove Estate, I was greeted by an oversized white house with four massive columns inviting you to the shaded porch. The perfectly manicured shrubs and greenery guided us to the path leading to the front door. This vibrant portrait of beauty set the tone for the gems hidden on the backside of the home.

Taking a moment to get acquainted with the venue, I entered the home taking in the grandiose charm. From the winding staircase to the sitting room on the right, the dining room on the left, and the cute lux chaise inviting everyone who enters to rest their feet, I immediately felt at home. As I continued through the house, making my way out the back door, I left the cool air conditioner to venture out to the patio.

I slowly took in that scene, occasionally passing by people dressed in all black finishing up the finishing touches on the ceremony site and the bar under a covered portion of the patio. To the right was another building with an open floor plan being set for the reception. The brick paths provided leading lines, always directing us where our attention should go next. I ventured from the outside bar to the ceremony site.

At the center of Cara and Jordan’s five-year courtship was their mutual love for Christ, so I was not surprised to see a large wooden cross as the staple under the wooden peaked arches that patiently awaited the moment for Cara and Jordan to solidify their love. From the first conversation I had with this couple, to the last, it was understood that Christ would be represented throughout the day. This added touch of the cross symbolized their beliefs and the seriousness with which they take their vows and embark on this journey.

Highgrove Estate was clearly thoughtfully laid out. There was easy access from the main house to a separate reception hall, to the bricked porch and stairs leading down to the ceremony site. There was an undeniable elegance that beautifully juxtaposed with the couple.

Pre-Wedding Jitters

I’ve yet to meet a couple who wasn’t nervous in the moments leading up to the ceremony. Typically, the bride is anxiously working to ensure everything is perfect while the groom is waiting for the moment to say “I do” and get to the party. Thankfully, there were plenty of rooms to accommodate the wedding party and their pre-ceremony anxieties.

Both Cara and Jordan had a calming demeanor. While their nervousness was apparent, they didn’t radiate the intense levels of anxiety I’m used to feeling radiate from the couple. Their go-with-the-flow attitude made working with them easy. Their adoration for Christ and each other made filming their special moments a little sweeter.

Father-Daughter First Look

While Cara made sure Jordan’s first look wouldn’t happen until he saw her walking towards him during the ceremony processional, Cara’s father got a chance to see his baby girl in her beautiful wedding gown before entrusting her to Jordan.

The nervousness of both Cara and her father was a testament to their bond. The anticipation as he heard her footsteps coming close to him as he stood at the base of the steps. His deep inhales breath as he waited for Cara’s hand to touch his shoulder indicating it's time to turn around, it was the sweetest sentiment of a father’s adoration for his daughter. The moment he turned to see her, his princess, he lost his breath. Taking a moment to gain composure, he reached out to her, and she sank into his arms, his forever little girl. The sweetest gesture of her father kissing her hand and embracing her, it was clear, Jordan must have been a great man. The love of her father set the standard, and while the shoes to fill were big, no one lacked confidence in Jordan’s ability to fill them as Cara’s husband.

Cara & Jordan's first touch

First Touch

There’s something special about seeing your bride walk down the aisle for the first time in her gown. While some opt for a private first look to ease nerves, those with more traditional values sometimes choose to go with a first touch. Cara and Jordan’s hands clasped tightly, their fingers interlocked as Jordan took a moment to pray over them. The theme of a Christ-centered relationship continued as Jordan prayed over their new journey and their growth as individuals and a couple.

This moment is still special between the couple but maintains the tradition of not seeing your bride until she walks down the aisle. Before saying their last goodbyes as single individuals, they share a few last-minute "I love you’s". Their voices trembled with excited nervousness, but the nervous jitters became less noticeable as they found comfort in their love and decision to spend life with each other.

The Ceremony

Situated just off the bricked patio and adorned with brown triangular arches and beautiful trees lining the background, the ceremony site set the tone for a serene wedding. The chandelier gracing the center of the ceremony site added an additional touch of elegance. The intimate setting and cross centered under the arches and across from the couple added a personal touch and a reminder that Christ is at the center of their relationship.

Doors from the main house opened, releasing Cara and Jordan’s loved ones down the bricked aisle to the ceremony site. With smiles gracing their faces and a few men ensuring the elder women made it safely down the stairs, everyone chatted as they made their way to find a seat on the lawn.

Greetings from loved ones who hadn't seen each other in a while, in addition to the anticipation of everyone waiting to see the couple, the love for the couple was undeniable. With a little guidance, everyone took their seats, awaiting the arrival of the grandparents marching down the aisle to music as they found their seats. Next came the bridesmaids in long, sleeveless burnt orange gowns followed by the men in navy blue suits and burnt orange ties.

Finally, the moment was here. Jordan took a few deep breaths, bracing himself to see his bride for the first time. The door from the main house opened, and Cara made her way to Jordan, her arm nestled safely in her father's, who was fighting back tears.

A traditional wedding, timing at just about 20 minutes, was enough time to capture the couple's love and devotion for each other while kindly freeing the guests from the sweltering sun before it became unbearable. The officiant officially introduced Mr. & Mrs. Jordan Tomberlin. The crowd erupted with cheers as the officiant stepped out of the way, allowing for a scenic and photogenic moment of the couple enjoying their first kiss. Hand in hand, they gleefully walked up the aisle to the continued cheers of loved ones. Basking in the moment, the two kissed again, beaming with love and anticipation on the beautiful journey they've just embarked on.

Final Thoughts

Observing these nervous individuals who seemed a bit more shy flourish into a vibrant couple ready to celebrate their union with their loved ones was a beautiful journey. From the venues, to
